Car crash down the block. 3 minutes earlier I would have crossed the street....

I was heading down to the store to pick up some odds n' ends this evening. As I was heading down the hill and turning a corner I heard a loud noise, as if something large and metallic had hit the ground.

When I came around the corner this is what I saw:

From what I could see one car had been overturned while a cab had taken damage to the front. I could see fluids leaking from the cab. I couldn't tell if there was still people inside either vehicle.

There was a third car, a police car to the side of them, I thought it had responded to the accident (kinda quick eh?), but upon further inspection, it had been hit as well, with damage to the front (not as much as the cab though) and I could see the airbag had deployed.

Within a few moments more police came and that was followed by fire engines and eventually an ambulance.

When I came back (they had started to try and clear people away, and I had walked down to go to the store in the first place) about 10min later the response teams were still working on the situation and I think the people in the accident had been tended to/removed from the cars.

Later on News12 they said an eyewitness said the cop car had run a red light (responding to a call elsewhere?), and that six people were injured.

Of course the real scary thing, for me is.... had I headed out just a few moments sooner I would have been crossing the street and possibly been in the area where the police car wound up. o_O

I seem to listen to this Bleach song often.

I guess I just like it a lot then? But why...? I dunno..... 'cause the characters are singing it all together? *shrug*

English Translation:
(Kenpachi, Yachiru, Ikkaku, Yumichika, All together)

I'll rise up to every challenge
Admit my defeat with a shout
I've certainly grasped that day
I break that sword because I'm clumsy
I regret that in my heart
For the sake of clinging on, I desire for the end
Because the words from those days have been engraved into my mind-
-No matter when, those words that you've said

The non-stop rain is like the rays of light from the sun
Sparkling within the dispute

The things that are not there, are not there, not even the daytime
There's no morning nor the crimson color
There's no name, at any time
There's an expectation that the world would end
Even the most sweetest candy
The name that you have received
Everything in the world, is just everything.

Like the wind of the spring days which have cleared up
Whispering within the dispute
The white clouds dancing in the sky, alone
I remember, I've smiled today

I've wagered everything and have been broken
I've played without any sense of enjoyment
Broken down by confusion
But still it's fine to live
I, always, no matter when
Fighting within happiness
I, always, no matter when
Enjoy the battle

The non-stop rain is like the rays of light from the sun
I can feel the battle within my body
Like the wind of the spring days which have cleared up
My body is delighted by war
The white clouds dancing in the sky, alone
I remember and my body breaks into a run
To exchange for the sake of loving everyday
Live, enjoy life and live.

Stray cat update 4

Well long story short (as there are a good number of details I don't really feel like typing up at the moment) I managed to get the young male. He's currently "chilling" in the bathroom, rather relaxed. Tomorrow morning we'll be taking him to get his medical needs taken care of and hopefully he'll get a clean bill of health (this way I can move him into my room and then once he gets used to the area, then try and bring in one of my three cats and get them acquainted).

One of the two people who helped make this possible is looking into a home for the female. She's doing alright, well as "alright" as she can, so I hope she'll get a good home soon.

Stray cat update 3

A week ago I sent an email to the Mayor's Animal Alliance. I received an email from someone who works at savekitty.org. While I've not yet been able to confirm it, I think my email was forwarded to them.

In any event, said person has been trying to arrange something so the two cats will be taken care of medically, no charge. I'm not quite sure if I can honestly take in two more. I was prepared to take in the young male, as the female (the previous house cat) had vanished, but she returned a week or so ago (the bastard owner said something about his daughter taking her in.... which brings up the question as to why she's back out on the streets). She's not too keen on other cats being around when she's eating, which is fine, she's pissed at the world (you would be too if you were tossed out of your warm home and had to fend for your life on a daily basis). So I wonder how she'd get along with the others... The young male is another story, I feel he'd get along with the other three, as he's quite friendly.

So for now it seems things might work out. But time will tell, I'll know more by the end of the week (plans on how and when to attempt to get them trapped and taken care of should be done on Monday, which is good since it's supposed to be 14 degrees on Saturday, with a low of 0).

Stray cat update 2

Well the plan I mentioned before worked. Now I just need to do it a few more times and hopefully I'll be able to do it with the gate on before the week is out and bring the black/younger one to either my Vet (only problem with this is that it's an hour or so away, go there for quality of care and such), or one of the two closer to me (which I'll be calling tonight/tomorrow to ask if they know of any no-kill shelters that would be willing to take her in).

Stray cat update

Well as of last night I haven't seen either of them around. I had seen the black/younger one in the afternoon, but not the black and white one.

There was someone washing their bike outside (why anyone would do so in 32 degree weather is beyond me) and when I asked if he had seen the cats, he said "sorry couldn't say". Would have looked around more but I could see past him and I didn't see them where they usually stay. Couldn't tell if the dry food I put out last night was touched, but I'm going to head down a little later to check that out and if need-be put out some more dry food and water.

The only thing I can think of is that the other day I met up with another person, who I think is the only other person besides myself who feeds them. He said he'd try to see if his aunt would take them. So hopefully this is what happened (an indicator that I'm hoping this is the case is that there were cans of food out by the time I went there last night, so maybe he got them when he fed them)... Though I'd like to bump into that guy again to confirm this (not knowing kinda bums me out... I'd like to think they're in a nice warm home now, but until I get confirmation...), and thank him.

Also the other day I had another person stop and said "wow you get everyone to feed you, you know David feeds you!" to the cat. I realize now I should have spoken up and corrected her, David (the person who put it out in the first place) does NOT feed these cats. Had he been doing so, I doubt he'd be annoyed at tripping over cans, or glad that others were feeding them.

Anyways... here's hoping for the best!
